Why is good nutrition important for people with HIV?

Good nutrition is about finding and maintaining a healthy eating style. Good nutrition supports overall health and helps maintain the immune system. It also helps people with HIV maintain a healthy weight and absorb HIV medicines

We partner with Mama’s Kitchen to provide nutrition classes and cooking demonstrations. These classes will focus on how diet impacts common health issues affecting people living with HIV.

The nutrition class topics are based on a survey of participants each year. THere is the 2025 class schedule drawn from the survey results.

  • [July 21] Cancer

  • [Aug 4] Diabetes (pre and Type 2)

  • [Aug 18] Liver and Kidney disease

  • [Sept 1] No class

  • [Sept 15] Cardiovascular Disease

  • [Sept 29] Inflammation and Infection (Ongoing viral replication)

  • [Oct 13] Nutrition and Aging, Cognitive Function, Maintaining a Healthy Weight, and Balanced Plan
